brrrrrr... I'm cold.

So today I rolled out of bed around the lazy hour of 11:30am. Thankfully it is Saturday, and we are now allowed to have that glorious morning 'off'. PTL. It is the second crazy day of freezing temperatures this Febuary in Texas... Only two days prior we had a roaring 85F and I was contemplating laying out by the pool and getting-my-tan-on. Yah, but we'll have none of that going on since the wind is dropping the temperature lower even as I type. A freezing rain advisory just flashed up on my screen for the night thru 9am tomorrow. To be quite honest, when I got home this evening I jumped into my newly purchased (during Thanksgiving in Portland) Sorel lined-boots, ski pants, and jacket... and I must confess that my feet haven't been this warm and content for some time. I KNEW bringing these pieces of gear may come useful even in Texas... I just didn't know when... and today is a very good day...tomorrow too, as we are expecting 32F (feels like 27F) for most the morning warming up finally to about 45F by the evening... and of course, by Monday temperatures will start to raise to the low 50sF. So pull out those winter-clothes real quick now else you'll miss another one of Texas' short Winter sessions. Who knows, this might be the last time till next year... one can never know.

S.A.D. - Singles' Awareness Day...

My good friend wrote this wonderful ballad about V-day... you know, that holiday in Febuary that sets people a spinning... seeing shades of pink and red and white and well, you get the picture. The chorus jingles:
I hate Singles' Awareness day, yah! I hate Valentines' day.
*repeat*
It's a very good song that makes me laugh everytime I hear it... I swear she should sell the lyrics and tune to Adam Sandler and make a bunch of dough to pay for college and beyond. I'm pretty sure it would make #1 on the charts.

On to my banter about the day:
Surprisingly enough it actually wasn't depressing to be...yes, man-less, this Valentine's Day, as nearly every other v-day in my past was exactly the same. Perhaps one would attribute my not missing companionship to the fact that I did go out for dinner with one of my apartment-mates. She was fine company to dine with, let me assure you, and the evening was complete with absolutely no awkward moments, as the custom of dining with a male-date on v-day might impose. Going out with the girls is a fine alternative to avoiding such moments, or staying in to make dinner and a movie so as not to have to intrude the masses of couples and pda in the popular restaurant choices. One of my flatmates' parents are planning to dine out the day after to avoid just that. Even late in the evening I marvelled when I entered a local grocery store only to find people still pouring over the v-day cards, what remained of the isles of chocolate goods, and the poor-poor floral department in hopes of finding the seriously last minute gift for their expecting loved ones. Honestly, the sheer commeralization of love nearly negates the genuineness of such feelings.

One might add that I was labeled SuperSingle the night before v-day when given three yellow roses by a couple who were giving single roses to the single gals in my home-group... All I could do was smile. *grin*

uninspired?

I don't know whether I am just uninspired or whether it's the lack of having my own computer... but for some reason I haven't been posting that much these days. I'm sorry everyone. I'll up and try to get my act together sometime soon, I hope. until then, I have been enjoying all your posts... keep it up, atleast someone among us are inspired.

broadway on ice

Over 20 in the cast, skating on a thin slab of ice at the Bass Concert Hall, no less.

Four fun-lovin' girls get all dressed up and attend Broadway on Ice on a fine January 31st, Tuesday evening in Austin... complete with an assortment of over 40 broadway melodies choreographed with precision and dazzling costumes and special guest appearances by olympic gold medalist Dorothy Hamill, Broadway's amazing vocalist of Phantom of the Opera Davis Gaines, and the songwriter, Emmy Award winner and Grammy nominee classical pianist and comic Dale-somebody-rather, which I later googled online and found that his name is Dale Gonyea. A very talented simply hilarious man in a tux wearing sparkly red converse hightops. *grin* Sadly there were no printed programs. The evening was a complete surprise... with rush-tickets priced at only $10 in the orchastra level, who could pass it up. A delight to view, a delight to hear, simply a delight all around. (ok i'm tired and it's beginning to show...). G'night all.
